Life Transitions
This year and next holds a lot of opportunities, exciting trips, and changes in my life for me. In fact, I’d say it’s the biggest period of change and fun in my life because of everything that’s in store.
First and foremost, I’ll be engaged within just a few months, and so the wedding will take place in 2020. To me, this is a mind blowing and amazing thing, something that has long been in the waits. That alone is exciting for me and what will be changing for the better.
Along with that, I’ll be taking a trip to Hawaii with my partner’s family this year, something I never would have dreamed of. Call it a celebratory trip (though it’s not) for our engagement. Call it what you want. I just can’t even wrap my mind around going to such a beautiful (and somewhat expensive) place for an entire 2 weeks.
Then, there’s buying a house. This is likely the single biggest change that I’ll be going through, as it has the most implications and financial planning needed.
It’s not that I’m afraid to buy a house. It’s more about the permanence that is created through buying a house with someone you love. And I am absolutely, 100% ready for it. Since we have a dog, it’ll be huge for him to have a lot more room to wander around, both inside and outside. And considering we’ll be getting married, owning a house just makes sense in our culture. Why continue to live in an apartment if we can have our own house full of wonderful amenities.
I think the thing I’m looking forward to the most is having a large kitchen with an island. We are always in the kitchen cooking, making something new, experimenting, mixing drinks, whatever. We’re always crowded in our apartment, however, and that’s something I will not settle for when it comes to a house.
And the other thing I’m a stickler about this new house having? Big open windows. There’s almost nothing better than an abundance of natural light and a view to nature. I am legitimately a happier person when I have a window nearby. I’m more energetic. I’m more productive. And I’m just more mellow and easy going in general. There’s nothing like being connected to nature to boost almost every aspect of your life.
So, 2019 and 2020 have the most in store for me so far in my 28-years-young life. Can you think of a year or two that you could say the same for yourself?
